UC San Diego Aerospace Education Outreach

A group of the American Institute for Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) students (AIAA Chapter at UC San Diego) spend Saturday afternoons at local high schools (with large minority populations) lecturing underrepresented minorities (Hispanic, blacks) on the importance of a college education. This CaSGC outreach program involves working with minority students on their homework and then using algebra to teach them how to design aircraft. The students are given site visits at UC San Diego for tours of aerospace engineering structures lab, wind tunnels, and robotics lab.
