Conclusion
During the past five years of its operation, the NSGC&FP has served hundreds
of thousands of people with hundreds of programs that span the education
continuum from precollege through faculty development. The consortia have
accomplished significant leveraging of resources, have begun to increase
public awareness and appreciation for NASA and its mission, and have invested
millions of dollars in U.S. citizens pursuing higher education.
The National Space Grant College and Fellowship Program provides
a logical interface for NASA with the colleges and universities of America.
The natural intersection between the NSGC&FP and NASA occurs in the elements
common to both: research, education, and public service. The NSGC&FP is
working to be an effective multi-institutional network for NASA-related
ventures.
